Welcome to the website of the research group Epitaxial Nanostructures (Forschungsgruppe Wachstum)

We investigate both the epitaxial growth and the electronic properties of functional semiconductor structures. Semiconductor layer systems with thickness controlled at the nanometer scale are prepared with molecular beam epitaxy. Further reduction of dimensionality leading to zero-dimensional semiconductor nanostructures is achieved either by lithographic techniques or self-assembling mechanisms. Exploring self-assembling during epitaxial growth has become one main focus in our research group. We study charge carrier transport as well as the optical properties of semiconductor nanostructures at low temperatures and high magnetic fields, where quantum effects play a crucial role.
